LONG-TERM field study of a Waterborne paint with a nano-additive for biodeterioration control

Biodeterioration in building façades represents an important economic loss related to maintaining a functional protective coating system. Research papers with long-time studies on paint performance exposed field conditions are scarce. Fungi, cyanobacteria, and algae frequently present biofilms formed outdoor locations. Among these, defacement caused by fungi is known for the broad damage spectrum produced. Therefore, it extend service life of coatings systems. To reach this goal, that consider action both biotic abiotic factors acting simultaneously prolonged periods necessary. The research work presents assessment carried out acrylic nano-additive long-term conditions. Paint 1% weight ZnO particles nano-sized crystallites (nano-additive) was natural weathering. Samples north south orientation were evaluated during period four years. incorporation proved life. In paints facing north, more efficient biodeterioration control.
